A masterkey system is only as good as its record keeping.
Your company may have a masterkey system. Where security begins to be breached is when you lose control of how many keys you have out there and who has access to what. Or when locks are moved around and records are not updated. Or worse, when records are unclear and rooms that should be secure from any given employee are keyed the same as other doors unknowingly.
When Bay Cities Lock and Safe creates a masterkey system for you, our record keeping is extensive. We have both hard copies and stored data regarding your system. No hard copy is labeled with anything that could connect your business name with your information. We maintain records that allow us to know every single lock in your building, what type of hardware is on it and how it is keyed. We can cross-reference your door to your key. Every key that opens a door on the masterkey system has a code stamped on it.
One very efficient point of our masterkey system is that by giving us the code on the keys, we can cut and ship keys to you…usually in the same day! We update your records at that time so that all information is constantly current. And only those authorized to order work/keys may do so. This saves companies enormous amounts of money. No sending employees anywhere to get keys copied or pick up keys. A simple email from an authorized person and the keys are on their way out to you.
Without this level of record-keeping being vigilantly maintained, security goes right out the window. We have no problem maintaining this high level of record-keeping for you.
Bay Cities Lock & Safe can provide you with restricted key systems. Simply stamping a key with “Do Not Duplicate” will not necessarily prevent someone from getting an unauthorized copy made. Some of our customers have learned that from hard experience until they came to us.
We have certain keys that can ONLY be cut in our location. This additional level of complexity is created in the key cylinder design. This means that only the shop that owns the compatible equipment AND the security code that was used in the initial set up can create that specific key, which will work in that specific lock. This prevents someone from finding your key and going to any other locksmith or a hardware store and getting copies made.
We provide restricted key systems with many companies whose intellectual property is as valuable as any materials they may be dealing with, if not more so. We also work with employers who are very interested in making certain that employees cannot duplicate keys for any reason. In the event of an unpleasant ending to a working relationship or an employee that has criminal intent, making additional keys becomes close to impossible with a restricted key system.

Bay Cities Lock & Safe can handle locks, keys, and repairs on most office furniture including desks, file cabinets, credenzas, and storage cabinets.
We can install locks where there are none (not all office furniture will adapt to locking from non-locking). On a case-by-case basis, we can install additional security devices to enhance existing hardware. We can also in some cases install electronic access on some office furniture.
We have the ability to cut keys by the code numbers on the office furniture in many instances. By emailing your request with the proper code information means we can ship your keys to you, which saves you having to pay a service call fee and your staff does not have to run around showing the locksmith which desk. Everyone saves time and money!
Not every standard product works in every standard situation. Example: A standard lock on a standard door, except the door is slightly thinner than what the lock is made for. We at Bay Cities Lock & Safe have the experience and the expertise to handle custom applications. From custom lock trims to custom boring for a special door or jamb, we have the experience, the tools and the technology to tackle even the most unusual situations.
Often times, locks that are old or broken can be repaired. Sometimes a lock that you may feel needs to be replaced is simply lacking in basic maintenance and can be restored to working order fairly easily by a competent locksmith with the right technology and tools.
At Bay Cities Lock & Safe, we treat you the way we would wish to be treated as a customer. If your lock can be repaired, we will do so. However, if it would be more cost-effective for you to replace it, we will tell you so. The importance is knowing the difference.
